Barrington Coffee, Commonwealth Whole Bean Local, unit

Sweet, powerful, roasted nut, spiced hot chocolate. A supremely versatile dark roast that is great in every brewing method including espresso preparation.

The primary component in the Commonwealth is the super chocolaty Cafe Conquista grown by the Sinay-Neves family in Bahia, Brazil. We have purchased coffee directly from the Sinay-Neves family since 2000. In addition to our long established direct trade relationship, each year we make a financial contribution to their non-profit organization Socially Conscious Coffee® (SCC)Socially Conscious Coffee was founded by Stephanie Palm Neves and the Sinay-Neves Family as an education and advocacy organization designed to support the farmers and farming families at Cafe Conquista.

Our initial contributions helped to foster the construction of a school in the center of the farm called Centro Rural Educafé. Now that the school is built, our contributions are directed to the broad scope of primary educational programs for the children of the farming families as well as adult education and advocacy programs for the farmers themselves. Ongoing environmental sustainability projects and grass roots economic development initiatives are core to the mission of Socially Conscious Coffee.

The secondary component in the Commonwealth is a micro-lot from the El Salvadorean farm, Finca Las Victorias. Las Victorias  is a small holdings farm in Apaneca which is located in the Department of Ahuachapán in northwestern El Salvador. The Magaña-Menendez family have cultivated this coffee for over one hundred years. The profile of the Las Victorias adds sweetness and resonant chocolate tones to the Commonwealth. This coffee has been certified at origin by the Rainforest Alliance .

Your purchase of this coffee directly supports the farming families at Cafe Conquista as well as our development of farm direct relationships with small producer families like the Magaña-Menendez family at Finca Las Victorias.

If you are one who enjoys an outspoken cup of coffee, we trust that the Commonwealth will be your go to.
